Indiana Scholarships for Cosmetology?

I live in Indiana and I am going to be attending The Salon Professional Academy in March. Tuition is $ 11,990. I filled out the FAFSA and it said I would only receive $ 5350 for the Federal Pell Grant, which is less than half of the tuition. Can someone please let me know why I will only receive that amount of money? My boyfriend and I live together and we have 1 child but I am not currently employed. Since the boyfriend and I are not married it goes off only my income. I found a Sally Mays scholarship but besides that one does anyone know another way i can get school paid for? Besides student loans? My grandmother said that she knew a lady that went to cosmetology school and she got it completely paid for with money to spare for travels ect. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
oh and i am going to this school because it is the best out there. so i do not need any answers saying how it is to expensive and to pick another school. i am not asking which school is the cheapest i am asking for scholarships. thanks ;)

The cosmetology school you have chosen is a for-profit school. Meaning it is costing you an arm and a let to attend. Real cosmetology schools at your local state funded tech center or community college will only cost you about a 1/2 to a 1/4 LESS than that OTHER school. This is how your grandma knew a lady who knew a lady who knew a lady…

THAT cosmetology school was well under the 5,350 you are getting in grant money. BTW the 5,350 is the maximum Pell grant allowed… which means the FAFSA determined you are dirt poor and are getting the max amount allowed. Find a cheaper school.

I’m a junior in high school and I’m in a lot of activities this year, and I’m looking for other organizations/clubs/activities to branch into.

I’m also the lead candidate for boys state in Indiana. I’m interested in anything involving politics/law/business, either national/state conferences or competitions. Anything that would help me expand my base.

Thanks a lot!
